This book describes the botany and morphology, harvesting and edible parts, nutritional and medicinal values, and post-harvest storage of fruits to increase knowledge about fruit health benefits and consumption of fruits. This book begins with basic information about fruit structure and derivation, classification, fruit set and development, and ripening and senescence processes. The second chapter describes the morphophysiology, and nutritional and therapeutic values of simple berry fruits. In addition, harvesting and edible parts, proximate analysis of the edible parts and recommended storage condition of simple berry fruits are included as well. The following chapters focus on morphophysiology, nutritional and therapeutic values of simple hesperidium, pepo and drupe, aggregate and multiple fruits. The readers will get sufficient information related to fruit botany, classification, morphophysiology, fruit maturity, edible parts, nutritional and medicinal values, and post-harvest storage. It is hoped that all readers will get valuable knowledge, particularly in the area of nutritional and therapeutic values of tropical fruits.
