Structural Equation Modelling or SEM is a Second-Generation Method of Multivariate Analysis. SEM can address the limitation in Ordinary Least Square (OLS) when dealing with the indirectly measured variable or construct in the model. Synonym to SEM is Convarience Structure Modelling. 

Using the SEM, the researcher can model and estimate the inter-relationship among the variable, among the constructs as well as the combination of both variables and constructs in the model simultaneously.
