Biological invasion (invasive species) has been a pertinent
issue in biodiversity management for the past few decades. As voracious
readers, the authors observed that there were few books dedicated completely to
the topic of invasive species. Hence, the authors recognized the need to
address this issue and promote biodiversity management and conservation
benefits by contributing relevant knowledge in this aspect. Through their
research, they have gained a new perspective into controlling and monitoring
invasive species (specifically, Cichla species) that will be shared through
this book. This book is aimed at both academics and laypersons in aquatic
sectors, as well as professionals in other related fields who may also find it
helpful. This book will provide the readers with an insight into how DNA-based
techniques can be used by conservationists to deal with an invasive Cichla
species, particularly in terms of challenges and strategies under pre and post
invasion situations. It also provides reliable scientific protocols,
statistics, and analyses, which can be found in a detailed case on the issue of
invasive species. Thus, the suggested approaches to deal with massive invasion
issues would be useful for practitioners in the relevant fields as well as law
enforcement agencies to act sensibly in response to the impact from invasive
Cichla species and similar circumstances in the future. Besides, this book
uncovers important aspects in aquatic productivity under a biological invasion
situation that many academics may not have investigated previously. As a
result, a new approach to managing productivity under the pressure of invasive
species may have developed. In addition to this, it can be used as a relatively
new source of knowledge for academic or research purposes. Finally, the authors
extend their humble invitation with hope and enthusiasm, anticipating that
collective exploration will not only enrich our understanding but also inspire
positive contributions towards the conservation and sustainable management of
our aquatic ecosystems.
