Information security is one of the basic pillars used to provide information in a secure and fair manner. It provides the necessary protection for information, processes and key structures by preventing any attempt to penetrate or threaten this information. Information security is based on the principle of not allowing all people access to all levels, as the process of entry is based on the authentication granted to individuals. The process of maintaining information   security is based on controlling the way the user accesses the information by verifying his/her identity using a particular method in order to identify the person. These methods include a range of situations such as verifying something owned by the individual or something known about him/her. Traditional methods include using passwords or smartcards, but these techniques have their own defects, and this has led to the advent of the biometric method of authentication. In modern times, biometric systems, which are based on verifying the identity of the individual through the individual itself, have become more reliable and credible. These systems are based on the use of the unique features of individuals, which vary from person to person. This book attempt to acknowledge the importance of biometric systems in our daily life based on the process of automatically identifying individuals through their unique behavioural and biological characteristics. These systems are used to determine the quality of individuals, to ascertain their rights and powers, and to assess whether individuals are recognised or unrecognised.
