Welcome
We are delighted to welcome you to the Seminar Manuskrip Melayu Antarabangsa (SEMMA2026), an international academic platform dedicated to advancing research, preservation, and innovation in the field of Malay manuscripts. The seminar will bring together scholars, researchers, librarians, archivists, conservators, educators, students, and practitioners from around the world to exchange knowledge, present recent findings, and foster collaborative research in the rich heritage of Malay manuscript studies.
Organized by the Research Institute for Islamic Products and Malay Civilization (INSPIRE), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), SEMMA2026 aims to strengthen international academic networking while promoting interdisciplinary discussions on the historical, cultural, scientific, and technological dimensions of Malay manuscripts. As valuable repositories of knowledge, Malay manuscripts preserve the intellectual traditions, religious thought, literature, governance, medicine, astronomy, law, and local wisdom of the Malay world. Their continued study and preservation are essential for safeguarding this invaluable cultural heritage for future generations.
SEMMA2026 also provides a platform to explore emerging approaches in manuscript research, including digital preservation, educational technology, conservation practices, and innovation inspired by manuscript collections. Through keynote presentations, paper sessions, and scholarly discussions, the seminar seeks to encourage new perspectives that bridge traditional manuscript scholarship with contemporary technological advancements.
