Introduction
The Malaysian Association of Applied Linguistics International Conference (MAALIC) 2026 is a premier regional and international platform that brings together scholars, educators, policymakers, and industry practitioners to engage in critical dialogue on contemporary issues in applied linguistics and language education. Held from 4–6 October 2026 at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Terengganu, this year’s conference adopts the theme “Applied Linguistics and Language Education in a Changing World: Equity, Diversity and Innovation,” reflecting the field’s evolving response to global, technological, and sociocultural shifts . Through a dynamic programme of keynote and plenary addresses, parallel paper sessions, symposia, and featured talks across eight thematic tracks—including multilingualism, artificial intelligence, discourse studies, language policy, and early literacy—MAALIC 2026 aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, advance cutting-edge research, and promote inclusive and innovative practices in language education. Beyond academic exchange, the conference offers rich opportunities for networking, cultural engagement, and professional development, positioning itself as a vibrant nexus for shaping the future of applied linguistics in the region and beyond.
