KUALA NERUS, November 8th : Despite his busy schedule, Kelantan Chief Minister Datuk Mohd. Nassuruddin Daud made time to attend the convocation ceremony of his youngest daughter at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) here.
He arrived in Terengganu with his wife, Datin Wan Norhanita Wan Yaakob, last night to celebrate the success of their youngest daughter, Amanina, who completed her studies in Usuluddin (Islamic Studies) at UniSZA. According to him, as soon as he was informed of the convocation date set by UniSZA, he cleared his official schedule as the Chief Minister to be able to celebrate Amanina's success on her special day.
"I've instructed my officers to clear my schedule, except for programs or events that are truly important if they involve His Majesty (the Sultan of Kelantan).
"This is because special moments like these are not always available, so it's not wrong for us as parents to take the time to appreciate and celebrate their success in education," he said when interviewed by reporters at the final session of the UniSZA convocation ceremony here today.
Amanina is among the 3,608 UniSZA graduates who have been celebrated with a grand ceremony during the 15th UniSZA Convocation Ceremony that took place over four days starting last Sunday. Further commenting, Mohd. Nassuruddin said he is a father who places great importance on education for all seven of his children.
"Alhamdulillah, four of my children have graduated overseas, but unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to attend those ceremonies.
"However, for my three children studying at local universities, two of them at UniSZA, I will make every effort to attend their convocation ceremonies," he said.
As the head of the family, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing the education of one's children and hoped that other parents would take similar steps.
"I am also grateful to UniSZA, especially the lecturers and staff who have carried out their duties as best as possible in producing quality graduates for the future of the country," he added.
