Hidap penyakit jantung bukan halangan raih Anugerah Diraja UniSZA

KUALA NERUS - Penyakit jantung yang dihadapi Nur Aufa Johan, 24 bukan suatu penghalang bagi dirinya untuk berjaya menerima Anugerah Pelajaran Diraja Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) sempena majlis konvokesyen di universiti berkenaan pada Ahad.

Sebaliknya Nur Aufa menganggap kesakitan yang dialami selama ini dijadikan suatu motivasi untuk beliau tetap meraih kecemerlangan sekali gus berjaya mencapai cita-cita yang diidamkan.

Beliau yang merupakan graduan Ijazah Sarjana Muda Bahasa Inggeris Dengan Komunikasi di UniSZA itu kini bekerja sebagai Pegawai Strategik di bahagian Komunikasi Korporat Petronas.

"Saya diserang penyakit jantung bengkak dan hipertiroidisme ketika berusia 15 tahun. Jadi saya terpaksa berulang-alik ke hospital untuk mendapatkan rawatan sehingga menyebabkan keputusan peperiksaan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) dan Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) tidak begitu memuaskan.

"Namun saya kembali bangkit dengan berusaha bersungguh-sungguh dalam pelajaran ketika melanjutkan pengajian di universiti. Meskipun ibu bapa tidak mengharapkan apa-apa balasan kerana memahami kesulitan yang saya hadapi.

"Tetapi saya tetap berazam untuk berusaha lebih gigih dan ingin menghadiahkan kejayaan untuk mereka suatu hari nanti. Ini terbukti pada hari ini saya dapat membahagiakan kedua ibu bapa saya dengan anugerah ini," katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika ditemui pemberita selepas majlis konvokesyen di UniSZA di sini pada Ahad.

Nur Aufa terpilih menerima anugerah berkenaan selepas mencatat nilai Purata Nilaian Gred Keseluruhan (CGPA) 3.91 yang melayakkannya menerima hadiah trofi dan wang tunai sebanyak RM7,500.

Pada majlis itu, Canselor UniSZA, Sultanah Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah berkenan menyampaikan hadiah tersebut kepada Nur Aufa.

Menurut anak kelima dari enam beradik itu, walaupun menyedari tekanan dan kesulitan yang bakal dihadapi namun beliau tetap merancang untuk menyambung pelajaran di peringkat Sarjana pada suatu hari nanti.

KUALA NERUS - Nur Aufa Johan, 24, faced with heart disease, did not let it become a barrier to her success in receiving the Royal Education Award from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) during the convocation ceremony at the university on Sunday.

Instead, Nur Aufa considers the pain she has endured as motivation to achieve excellence and to fulfill her aspirations. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English with Communication from UniSZA and currently works as a Strategic Officer in the Corporate Communication Department at Petronas.

"I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and hyperthyroidism when I was 15 years old. So I had to make repeated visits to the hospital for treatment, which affected the results of my Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations.

"However, I rose again by putting in sincere efforts in my studies when continuing my education at the university. Although my parents did not expect anything in return, understanding the difficulties I faced.

"But I remained determined to work even harder and wanted to give the gift of success to them one day. This is evident today as I am able to bring joy to both my parents with this award," she said.

She made these remarks when interviewed by reporters after the convocation ceremony at UniSZA on Sunday. Nur Aufa was selected to receive the award after achieving a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.91, making her eligible for a trophy and a cash prize of RM7,500. During the ceremony, the Chancellor of UniSZA, Sultanah Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah, graciously presented the award to Nur Aufa. According to the fifth of six siblings, despite realizing the pressure and challenges that lay ahead, she still plans to pursue postgraduate studies at the Master's level someday.
