“Chinese Bridge” Competition 2018 in Malaysia

kakas2 2 “Chinese Bridge” Competition 2018 in Malaysia was held on 5th May 2018 at Kong Zi Institute of University of Malaya. “Chinese Bridge” Competitions are organised by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in Beijing and held every year by the Kong Zi Institutes or Kong Zi Classrooms and Chinese embassies and consulates in different countries. Since 2002, this competition has been a very important platform for students from different countries to learn more about China and build a communication bridge between the youth in China and those who come from countries all around the world. 

On 5th May, Director of culture from Chinese Embassy and Foreign Leader of Kong Zi Institute of UM made speeches to encourage all the competitors and foreign students to learn more about China and Chinese culture. This year, there were totally 31 competitors who attended the competition and two students from UniSZA, Wan Nur Anis Amirah Binti Wan Johari from Faculty of Informatic & Computing and Nur Amira Batrisyia Binti Mahadzir from Faculty of Languages & Communication , competed and got No. 17 and No. 1 after drawing in the morning. The competition included two parts, the Chinese speech and the talent show. After the rat race, both of them won the participation award.

This is the first time for students from UniSZA to take part in “Chinese Bridge” competition. The competition is such a good chance for them to gain knowledge about China and the differences between Chinese culture and Malaysian culture through this event.
