The 2nd International Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health Conference 2025 (COMET 2025) is organised by the Health Behaviour Research Group and Medical Imaging & Radiation Science Research Group, under the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA).

Health Behaviour Research Group

hbs

The Health Behaviours (HealthB) Research Group is dedicated to understanding and addressing health behaviour patterns and lifestyles that contribute to prevention as well as health maintenance, restoration, and improvement. Our mission is to develop sustainable, evidence-based primary healthcare interventions to enhance quality of life. We emphasize lifestyle and behavioural interventions to prevent and manage obesity, cardiovascular disease risk factors, stroke, and other non-communicable and chronic diseases, including diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Our work also promotes healthy ageing among the elderly and supports optimal growth and development in children, including those with special needs, through the adoption of nutritious food and balanced diets. Our multidisciplinary team comprises experts in obesity and cardiovascular diseases, stroke, geriatric nutrition, paediatric health, diabetes, and the care of children with special needs. We strive to deliver impactful research and innovations that improve patients and public health outcomes.

Medical Imaging & Radiation Science Research Group

mirsThe Medical Imaging & Radiation Science (MIRS) Research Group was established in March 2023. The research group focus on various disciplines of research in medical imaging and radiation sciences, including medical imaging technology and application. MIRS is further divided into two sub-groups: Cancer Molecular and Functional Imaging Research (CaMFIRe) and Medical Physics. A major focus of CaMFIRe includes imaging in cancer, neuroscience, and cardiovascular health using multimodal imaging modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, digital mammography, and nuclear medicine. Research works evolve around medical imaging technology and application, as well as image processing and analysis in medical imaging. On the other hand, Medical Physics covers research areas of medical physics, radiation sciences and radiation safety in diagnostic imaging and radiation treatment that incorporate multiple imaging and also treatment modalities.
