RECYCLING PROJECT TURNING TRASH INTO GIFTS

Kuala Terengganu, 16 February 2025 –  Pusat Pengurusan Makmal Berpusat (CLMC) has launched the second edition of its Projek Pengumpulan Bahan Penerbitan (Tepakai/Usang) 2.0, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainability and responsible waste management. The event, held at the Pekarangan Makmal Penyediaan Makanan & Diet Terapeutik on UniSZA's Gong Badak Campus, runs in two phases: from 16 to 20 February 2025 and again from 23 to 27 February 2025. Operating from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, the event encourages the public and university community to participate in recycling efforts.

Drive-Thru Concept for Easy Drop-Off

The project features a drive-thru system, making it easier for participants to drop off recyclable materials without leaving their vehicles. Various used and old printed materials are accepted, including magazines, books, newspapers, comics/novels, calendars, and boxes. Additionally, the initiative also collects used cooking oil, plastic waste, and electronic waste (e-waste) to further promote environmental sustainability.

Collaboration for a Greener Future

This project is a collaboration between UniSZA and several environmental partners, including FatHopes Energy, Lestari UniSZA, and RD Paper. These organizations play a vital role in processing and repurposing collected waste into valuable resources.

The event is organized by CLMC reinforcing UniSZA's commitment to environmental conservation and education. With the tagline “Let’s Turn Trash to Gift”, the university hopes to inspire individuals to see waste not as mere garbage but as an opportunity for reuse and sustainability.

Supporting Global Sustainability Goals

The initiative aligns with global sustainability efforts, particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By promoting responsible consumption and waste management, UniSZA contributes to environmental conservation and helps reduce the carbon footprint of discarded materials.
